Online XSD Viewer
Free online XML Schema (XSD) viewer. Upload an .xsd file, paste the
schema source or load it from a URL and explore the schema as an expandable tree,
an XMLSpy-style diagram or syntax-highlighted text — including annotations,
documentation, appinfo and source line numbers.
Validate XML documents against the schema directly in the browser, or from the command line via the REST validation API (curl, PowerShell, Python). The FundsXML schema releases are built in and can be browsed without uploading anything.
Need more than a viewer? FreeXmlToolkit is the free desktop XML workstation by the same author: a schema-aware XML editor with IntelliSense, XSD documentation and sample-data generation, Schematron, XSLT, XProc, XML signatures and PDF output — for Windows, macOS and Linux.
Sister tools by the same author: XML Online Viewer, Online OData Viewer and the Fund Data Converter.
Guides: FundsXML releases and their changes, ISO 20022 schemas, XSD diagrams, all guides and resources.
What does the XSD viewer show?
Every declaration of an XML Schema — elements, attributes, simple and complex types, groups, facets,
xs:documentation and xs:appinfo — as an expandable tree, an XMLSpy-style diagram with sequences, choices
and cardinalities, and the highlighted source with line numbers. The three views share one selection.
Can it read schemas that import or include other files?
Yes. Drop several .xsd files at once or a .zip with the main schema and its xs:import, xs:include and
xs:redefine targets. The viewer resolves the references and treats the bundle as one model; when more than one
file could be the root, it asks which one.
Is my schema stored?
No. Uploads are parsed in memory and dropped from a short-lived cache; schema files are never written to disk. The anonymous usage statistics record the file name or URL, size and outcome, never the content. To keep everything inside your network, run the viewer with Docker.
Can I validate an XML file against the schema?
Yes, in the browser after loading the schema, or from scripts and CI with the REST API (curl, PowerShell, Python). XSD 1.0 and XSD 1.1 are supported. For browsing large XML documents and exporting the validation errors to Excel, use the sister tool XML Viewer.
Which FundsXML versions are available?
All releases published in the official fundsxml/schema repository, loaded with one click on /fundsxml. Each release has a page with its structure and the changes to the previous version under /fundsxml/….
